about

The piano is an instrument and a machine.

An instrument because it emits acoustic vibrations, and a machine because it requires thousands of mechanical parts to produce them.

The computer is a machine and an instrument.

A machine because it requires thousands of printed circuits, and an instrument because it produces its own sounds by digesting those of others.

Both share the same interface: the keyboard.

At the confluence of jazz and bass music, the dialogue of two men and the interaction of their machine instruments gives life to a warm music to the grooves of a formidable power, without leaving aside the musicality and the poetry.

The experience of Otisto 23 (Dominique "Dume" Poutet) in fusion and electro production allows this album to benefit from a resolutely contemporary sound and a rare precision.

The cover is an original creation by Virginie Biondi.

On stage, the live video performance is provided by Nico Tico (XLR Project).

Artwork & photos by Ugo Cab (iamadikt.com).

about

Laurent de Wilde & Otisto 23 Paris, France

Laurent de Wilde's piano as an exclusive sound source in duet with a computer that treats, mistreats and organizes the material addressed to him. Otisto 23 transforms the computer into an authentic instrument in concert with the piano. The universe created by this improbable encounter of the PC and the piano breathes the serenity of an inner journey that simply makes it accessible to all ears. ... more
